X-mid Pro - History & Future
Dan Durston was a guest on Andy Parrish Outdoors podcast recently to talk about Pro 1 history and how it came to be including some design choices & decisions. Pro series has been in development since the collaboration with Drop. Here’s some other key points from the podcast.
First batch of Pro 1 was launched and sold out in 2 days, shipping ongoing
Next batch of Pro 1 is coming in April / May 2023
Next batch of Pro 2 2023 is available on backorder for April 2023 delivery
Target for 2024 to have Pros consistently in stock
Regular inners will be available in 2024 when all the tents will be sold directly from Durstongear.com
Dan would like to offer a modular option to buy SilPoly or DCF flyes with mesh or solid inners with earliest possibility is 2024 - 2025. I suggested the modular approach in Durston Gearheads FB group last summer. I can’t claim coming up with the idea, but I’d like to think my comments have pushed the concept forward, as Solid DCF double wall would be perfect for UK conditions.
Dan is planning a hiking pole, which might be out in 1.5 - 2 years.
Dan personally uses Pro 1 in good weather trips and Solid for bad weather trips.
