Routeburn Track, NZ

Routeburn Track is one of the Great Walks in New Zealand. It’s very popular, so if one is staying in DOC huts (like we did), the hut passes need to be booked well ahead. We booked the hut stays about 6 months before the hike at the total cost of NZ$390, around £200 for 2 people for 3 nights in huts. Transportation to and from the trailheads is also a bit tricky. We stayed a night in Queenstown Holiday Inn where we also stored our extra luggage. We rented a car to get to the trailhead and organised a car relocation from the start to end for NZ$335, around £160. This was the most affordable option as the trailheads are 1.5 and 3.5 hours away from Queenstown.

Here’s a video of the hike.
